During the summer of 2015, I took my first assignments with BBC News in Austria. Operating from Vienna alongside BBC Correspondent Bethany Bell, we followed the story along the various borders as Europe braced itself for the largest refugee crisis since WWII.

It was quite a challenge to report on such a dynamic, developing story using a mirrorless camera. But the Panasonic GH4 and Canon 24-105 f/4 proved to be real champs when dealing with demanding situations. The biggest issue was shoulder-rigging the camera to make up for a malfunctioning lens image stabiliser, as well as mounting the necessary audio and light equipment.
